ABWW Hater of the Day: Talib Kweli

It is amazing that even when men are trying not to hate they still end up hating! Talib Kweli was a rapper I respected, who does not have a reacord of defaming black women, until now.

I know Slim Thug he’s a good guy…..it’s not my job as a rapper to be checking my peersA.nd the point he was making about Black women and Black men and certain points about relationships, particularly when it comes to money—these are very valid points……he’s not claiming to be an intellectual, he’s only telling it how it his from the perspective of a young Black person growing up in Houston, and the points that he made were underserved and underrepresented because of the generalizations that he made.So because someone makes a generalization you have to spew venom at them and talk about you’re not gonna support their music and you’re gonna unfollow? All that s**t is extra……al problems in our community. He really couldn’t articulate on a so-called intellectual level what the reasons are for these pathologies—the racism, the problems in our relationships—so from his perspective, White chicks would treat him better. I know plenty of Black dudes that feel the same way. I don’t agree with them but I understand why they say it.

If black women are so materialistic, we must not do a very good job at it. If we are so busy chasing me with money why are we one pf the poorest demographics in the country? Slim Thug cheated on his girlfriend, Latoya Luckett and impregnated another women, She broke up with him, I guess she was not supportive enough! I wish brothers who want white women would just do so and not debase women who look like their mothers and daughters in the process.

ABWW, I agree with you about Talib. I didn’t hear this particular interview with Talib about Slim Thug, but I heard another one when he was on the Warren Ballentine show. Ballentine asked him about todays rappers and their impact on the kids today and Talib was very meely mouthed about how he couldn’t knock another rapper and all the lame bull that goes with that mentality. Sadly, I deduced the didn’t want to tell the truth about them for fear they may not appear on one of his future albums (yes I still say album…LOL) or they may not invite him on theirs. This is terrible, since I would expect someone that is rated as a “conscious” rapper to denounce the negative impact that people like Lil Wayne, Slim Thug or those of that ilk produce.
